Wow! Bessie has seen two world wars, 21 presidents, and two Chicago Cubs World Series victories!

Bessie Hendricks has seen two World Wars, two depressions, the sinking of the Titanic, and 21 presidents in addition to two World Series victories for the Chicago Cubs.

Henricks is not just the oldest living American but also the tenth-oldest living individual in the world, per the Gerontology Research Group.

The oldest of Hendricks’ children, Joan Schaffer, spent her special day with her.

Schaffer had just recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

Schaffer remarked, «I don’t know how you put it into words. The fact that we still have her is wonderful.

All of the children describe their mother as being hardworking and having a lot expected of her from an early age.

According to Schaffer, her mother passed away when she was around 13 years old. «After that, she raised her siblings. Additionally, she lived directly across the street from the school where she taught, so she had no excuse for missing class.

The unusual birthday celebration was held at the Shady Oaks Care Center, and guests included staff members.

Her favorite song, «You Are My Sunshine,» was sung to Henricks by all of her kids.

Leon Hendricks, her son, stated that his mother enjoys singing.

Every place we stopped at while wheeling her around Shady Oaks, he recalled, she would continue sing «You Are My Sunshine.» The inhabitants «look forward to it every day, too,» said the speaker.

This time, Bessie Hendricks had the opportunity to listen to her favorite music.

Leon Hendricks remarked that she was constantly concerned for her family. She did that consistently. For mom, family came first. Always.”
