Julie Unterreiner has won the title of best young baker in France 2021. Very happy with her victory, she
is thinking of opening her own bakery afterwards.
The young apprentice from the Dietsch Pierre bakery, in Reiningue (Haut-Rhin), won the title of «Best
young baker in France 2021″ on November 26. After passing the departmental and regional
preselections in September, Julie Unterreiner did not think she would obtain this coveted title, reports
Haut-Rhin news.
The regional selection of the Best Young Baker Grand Est took place at the end of October at the CFA
Bernard Stalter in Eschau with 6 candidates competing: Kethlyne Vermoesen from the Ardennes, Lenny
Canipelle from the Meuse, Thinault Colasse from the Moselle, Waliya Messalti from the Bas-Rhin and
Julie Unterreiner from Haut-Rhin
The 18-year-old young woman, very supported by her relatives and her teachers, made a traditional
bread and a country bread. For this, she wanted to represent her region, Alsace, with a Munster pretzel.
She also made her main piece themed around the Tokyo Olympics.
A professional project already defined
Pieces that seduced the jury with their creativity. After her studies, the young woman would like to be
able to open her own bakery. She has even already thought about her own creations, «which change
habits».
«I’m going to finish my professional certificate, and why not do a master’s certificate, but I’m not sure. It
would be useful for perfecting my skills, but I’m not very good at it,” admits the young baker.
She wants to take over and create a bakery, where the opportunity will open up to her. «I would like to
offer weekend pastries, which change habits, more elaborate, make brioches with flavors, star-shaped
puff pastry, atypical shapes».
